Have you ever been interviewed by someone who isn't fit to polish your shoes? If you have, I must say that I am not surprised. Here in America we pride ourselves on many things. Not included in those things is our hiring process.
The reasons for this are simple. Think about how many people you know that can accurately and completely judge the worth of another person after only meeting them once. If you asked any of my friends/family/enemies what their immediate impression of so-and-so was after a quick interview, you would be barraged with so may racial and mental stereotypes, that you would think you were hanging out in the parking lot of seven-eleven after midnight. Every person in the world is a racist, bigoted prick at some level in their mind, which leaves them as a cripple when it comes to evaluating others. Want proof?: the all mighty anonymous internet, where all people are openly and painfully biased.
I am definitely not preaching the "see through the skin and past the beliefs" bullshit that everyone has been spoon-fed for their entire lives. I am just saying that if you fail and get a job in HR for some no-name company with your fancy ass degree (if college is even involved), that you are not worthy of digesting the fecal particles off of my shoe. Thats all.
To begin with, the hiring process is totally and ignorantly fuct anyway. If you want an employee who can get the job done and that will converse with you on the same level, you should maybe talk to him yourself before he is hired. Not pawn it off on some geriatric patient with a "human resource" tattoo on his sloped forehead.
The only thing that cannot be twisted easily is your experience. Or so you would think. Any experience you have can be proven useless by a sufficiently
ignorant interviewer. Example: your qualifications do not exactly fit the position you're applying for. If a job requires, say, experience with widget manufacture.
You have years of experience building widgets, but you have never manufactured them per say. Therefore:
Your experience = useless as a Clinton's wedding ring
I could go like the energizer bunny on this subject. but I will only make one more point before I degrade this article to images. Because I am smarter and better than everyone I have ever met, I am frequently discriminated against by ignorant sods everywhere. I have felt the overshadow and burden of discrimination my whole life because of my mental and physical prowess. Too bad that I'm so fucking benevolent and humble, otherwise you might hear about my plight sometime.
